A Griffon Vulture, (Gyps Fulvus); the first one of its kind that I've ever seen even though they appear to be native to Europe, North Africa and Asia (there's even a few in my native Belgium it appears).
Despite the bad reputation of vultures these are truly majestic birds, they're about 95-110 cm (37-43 inch) long with a wingspan of 230-265 cm (91-105 inch). Very imposing up close.
Please don't hesitate to comment on what you like (or dislike) about the picture, any feedback is appreciated. Don't worry though, I won't kill you if you fav+run.
What beautiful coloring... I have never seen a vulture I've liked before, not visually. Not that I mind the naked heads and necks, but rather most of them look so evil, almost foul, and he certainly doesnt.
as for the picture itself, I'm impressed at how sharp the image is. <33

Vultures aren't usually birds I'm attracted to either but there was something really majestic about this one. I have another close up shot coming up soon
There are a lot of themes that run through the stock gallery many people have similar ideas but they pull them off in different ways. In this series of newsletters we will look at similar ideas but different outcomes.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

I love it how all the different types of feathers are visible and pile on each other.
If you don't mind, I'll borrow in to help in some feathered dinosaur + primitive bird drawings.

"Why do you necessarily have to be wrong just because a few million people think you are?"
By all means go ahead and use any image for reference, absolutely no problems with it
